Jewellery Care Guide

At Olivia Frank we only work with high quality materials.

We want you to wear your jewellery every day and with a few tips and tricks you can keep your piece looking pristine for longer.

If it ever loses its sparkle, we are always here to help!

Sterling silver

925 Sterling Silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% Copper. Our silver jewellery is also plated with an extra layer of 925, which gives it that extra shine.

Care & Repair for our Silver products

As silver is sensitive to water, we advise to remove all jewellery when you come into contact with water, especially sea water, perfume or chlorine. This will help avoid your jewellery oxidising over time. The more you wear your silver jewellery the better. Your skin’s oils are a natural buffer for silver and help to reduce the oxidation process.

If your silver ever becomes tarnished or oxidised, we recommend giving it a quick clean with a silver polishing cloth.

Gold Plated Jewellery - 925 Silver with Gold plate:

Made up of 925 sterling silver (as above) with a layer of 18ct gold on top. We apply a thick layer of 18ct gold on our gold-plated pieces using 2 -2.5 microns, which is above industry standards.

Care & Repair for our Gold-plated products

As silver is sensitive to water, we advise to remove all jewellery when you come into contact with water, especially sea water, perfume or chlorine. This will help avoid your jewellery oxidising over time and help reduce the impact on the gold plating.

Solid Gold

We can custom make any of our pieces in solid gold, please get in touch for a quote.

Ways to maximise the life of all Olivia Frank jewellery:

  • Avoid getting any fragrance on your jewellery, putting on your pieces after you've sprayed any perfume to avoid it interacting with the metal.
  • Wait to put your jewellery on until your moisturizer is absorbed.
  • Do not wear your gold-plated jewellery while exercising, swimming or showering.
  • Wipe your jewellery gently after wearing it with a very soft cloth or cotton ball to remove build-up of dust or dirt.

Storage

If possible, keep it stored in an airtight bag away from sun when not wearing to extend its life and reduce premature tarnishing or fading.
